DESCRIPTION:“Dr. Mark Bender has served as the Senior Minister of First Christian Church\, Wichita Falls\, since 2018. Mark is an enthusiastic preacher\, compassionate pastor\, and skilled leader who works to help FCC fulfill its mission of “shepherding every person to encounter the abundant peace of Christ.”  \nMark received his call to ministry at a youth conference in Estes Park\, Colorado\, and remains passionate about the spiritual formation of young people and the camping program. He has been a regular summer counselor\, director\, or keynoter\, as well as serving on various Youth Ministry Councils\, on the Logos Systems Associates (now Gen On Ministries) Conference Board and as the President of the Board of Disciples Crossing\, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) campground in Athens\, Texas. He holds a Masters of Divinity from TCU’s Brite Divinity School\, and a Doctorate of Ministry from SMU’s Perkins School of Theology. Yet\, when it comes to collegiate loyalty\, he is a member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1996.  \nPrior to his ordination\, Mark served Texas congregations in Lubbock\, Amarillo\, and Dallas\, as well as at the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest Regional Office in Fort Worth. Ordained to the ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of  \nChrist) in 2004 at Northway Christian Church in Dallas\, Texas\, Mark continued to serve that congregation another 14 years.  \nIf you were to ask Mark what his favorite scripture passage is\, he would tell you: “Romans 5:3-5.” And\, when Mark isn’t at the church\, he enjoys working in the yard\, playing a musical instrument (piano\, organ\, violin\, and guitar)\, and spending time with his wife\, Jodi\, and their two adult children\, Chelsea (and husband\, Nathan) and Abby\, and their granddaughter\, Clara.”  \nMark will be preaching on June 1. The sermon title will be “Creative Simplicity” and the scripture will be Ecclesiastes 4:1-12.

Dr. Andy Mangum\n\nAndy Mangum\, MDiv\, D.Min\, is the Regional Minister of the Christian Church in the Southwest\, a position he has held since 2017.  Prior to entering into Regional Ministry\, Andy served as Pastor of First Christian Church\, Arlington for fifteen years.  He also served in Irving\, DeSoto\, Weatherford\, and Amarillo.  He is a graduate of Brite Divinity School and West Texas A&M University.  His wife Lori is a Diagnostician for Grand Prairie Independent School District.  They have three children Madison (married to Taylor); Andrew (married to Lauryn); and Joshua.  They have three grandchildren: Annaleigh\, Elizabeth\, and Anderson.\n\nRev. Dr. Andy will be preaching a sermon titled “Led by the Spirit” from Romans 8:14-17 on Sunday\, June 8.

DESCRIPTION:Every Thursday at 10AM join us for Craft Day. This is for all ages. Bring your favorite craft to do\, or hunt through the options we have available. Lots of people paint\, needlepoint\, make jewelry\, and other things. You can even learn a new craft from one of the more experienced crafters.\n\nMost people stay about 2 hours unless they have younger kids. Usually the kids get restless\, but you are welcome to come and go based on what works for you.\n\nSome special days will be coming up with special projects. Watch for the announcements. We usually enter through the kitchen door and leave that one unlocked. So come around back!!

He is a lifelong Disciples of Christ member and attends WestWind Church in Keller\, Texas. Chuck graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. SUMMARY:Rev. Cara Gilger - June 29
DESCRIPTION:The Rev. Cara Gilger is ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) who’s 15 year ministry has spanned from congregational ministry\, to small group and campus ministries focusing on spiritual formation and congregational connection. A recipient of the 2020 Louisville Institute’s Pastoral Study Program grant\, Cara is exploring the intersection of grief and joy in caring for families who have experienced medical trauma. Cara is the editor of 99 Prayers Your Church Needs but Doesn’t Know It Yet as well the newly released Prepare: An Advent Devotional.  She also serves as a preacher and congregational consultant helping church align their practices and structures with their vision for how God is calling them to serve their community. In her personal time Cara is an uncoordinated fitness enthusiast\, avid reader and traveler with her partner Tim\, and their two daughters as they work on their goal of hiking every National Park. The Gilger’s live in North Texas. Rev. Gilger received her bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University and Masters of Divinity from Vanderbilt University. Rev. Cara will be preaching on Sunday June 29.
