SUMMARY:Rise Against Hunger Event - July 6
DESCRIPTION:Rise Against Hunger will be at Westwind on July 6. The church has done this event before. The pictures here are from 2018. There will be a short communion service at 10:30 followed by a project organized and lead by the Rise Against Hunger staff. We will be putting together boxes that will be shipped to places where food is scarce. Please dress comfortably and come ready for a great time of worship through service. SUMMARY:Doug Holt - July 13 - A Tale of Two Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Doug Holt is married to Indalita. Together they have three children and four grandchildren. Doug holds a PhD in Food Science and Technology and has worked for several consumer products companies as well as 14 years as a university \nprofessor. Doug and Indalita were raised in the Church of Christ tradition but we have found our place here at Westwind and the DoC. He has a passion for making music\, doing research and working on DIY projects. \nDoug will be preaching on Sunday\, July 13. The sermon title is\, “A Tale of Two Gardens\,” and the text is Gen 2:4-20 and Rev 21:9-14; 22:1-5.

DESCRIPTION:Rev. Thomas McCracken\, an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)\, is currently an Assistant Vice President for Client Relations for the denominational retirement plan\, Pension Fund of the Christian Church (pensionfund.org). His varied professional background includes ministry\, wealth management\, and law practice. \nRev. Thomas and his wife\, Rev. Lea McCracken\, Associate Chaplain at TCU and former intern at WestWind\, strive to make the world a better place and impress the same upon their three children\, ages 21\, 19\, and 16. Rev. McCracken will be preaching on Sunday July 20. The sermon title is “Go with the Flow\,” and the text is Exodus 24:13-18 and Matthew 4:1-11.

SUMMARY:Mindful Creating - July 20 - Cindy Peters
DESCRIPTION:Sunday afternoon\, July 20 we will have a Sabbatical Event to give us a chance to create together through art. Cindy Peters will be our guest artist and she will direct us in creating art together.\n\n 	We all create and when we do we have a special connection to the creator.\n 	After the morning service\, we will have a lunch of Build Your Own Taco Salad (a sign up sheet will be posted).\n 	After lunch\, Cindy Peters\, our guest artist will lead us in a session of mindful creating together. Cindy will start us off by explaining her process and will be there to encourage and guide.\n 	Supplies will be provided – 9×12 canvas boards and acrylic paint\, but if you prefer another size canvas\, or a different paint\, feel free to bring your own supplies.\n\nCheck this out to learn more about Cindy and her art: CindyPArtist

SUMMARY:July 27 - Stephen Bailey - "Come Together\, Right Now\, Over Me"
DESCRIPTION:Stephen Bailey was born in Canada\, but got to Texas as soon as he could. He graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1992 with a degree in Communication and spent the next two years making his living as a singer and actor on the road. \nHe joined a new company in Dallas called Reel FX – Creative Studios in 1994 and was with Reel FX until 2004 with one short break during which he lived in Nashville\, TN. Stephen served as the Associate Minister at the Lake Cities Church from 2004 – 2009 and as the Executive Director of Fortress Youth Development Center (a non-profit organization working with at risk urban youth in Southeast Fort Worth) in 2010 and 2011. He earned his Master’s Degree in Communication from TCU in 2012 and spent the next ten years teaching Communication at TCU and Tarrant County College in Fort Worth. \nToday\, Stephen is the Director of Strategic Development at MADE IN THE STREETS\, a non-profit organization focusing on family-based care\, which emphasizes reunification\, reintegration\, rescue\, and rehabilitation for children currently living on the streets. His band\, Back Roads\, performs around town\, and he leads worship at various congregations on Sundays. Stephen and his wife Stephanie have been married for 29 years and have two beautiful daughters\, Rainey (23) and Emily Rose (19). Stephen will be preaching on Sunday July 27. The sermon will be “Come Together\, Right Now\, Over Me” from Ephesians 4.
